The Monday of 18th Oct. au, one of cell phone carriers in Japan, announced their new products and services. In the event, a CEO of Skype Limited. came and showed some statistics of Skype services. I introduce that here.

• In 19th Nov. 2009, eBay sold over half of stocks of Skype they had to an investment group headed by Silver Lake. The group contained Joltid Limited. and its associate companies, the Canada Pension Plan (CPP), and Andressen Horowitz. eBay got 19 billions dollars in cache, a bill of 125 millions dollars, and invests for about 30 %  of stocks of Skype.
• In Q2 of 2010, 124 millions people used the Skype service in the three months. (In Q2 of 2009, 91 millions people)
• In 2009, an annual total of duration time of Skype-to-Skype calls (video calls were included) was 113 millions minutes.
• In the first half of 2010, about 40 % of Skype-to-Skype calls were with video.
• In peak time, 23 millions users logged-in to the Skype service simultaneously. (at the date of Mar. 2009)
• In Q1 of 2010, about 37 % of the Skype users used it for business.
• The Skype service is translated into 29 languages.
• 788 staffs in Skype Limited. at the date of 30th Jun. 2010.

先日 18 日(月) に行われた au の新製品発表会では，多くの製品の他に Skype 社との連携によるサービスも発表されました．その際に Skype のサービスに関するいくつかの統計情報も併せて発表されたのでここで紹介します．

• 2009 年 11月 19 日， eBay が Skype 株の過半数を Siver Lake 率いる投資家グループに売却．この投資家グループには， Silver Lake の他に， Joltid Limited とその関連企業数社，カナダ年金制度 (CPP) 投資委員会， Andressen Horowitz が含まれる． eBay は，この投資家グループから現金約 19 億ドルと元本 1 億 2,500 万ドルの発行手形 (その後，返済済み) を受け取り， Skype への約 30 % の株式出資を受けた．
• 2010 年 Q2 の 3 ヶ月間の月平均接続ユーザ数は，前年同期の 3 ヶ月間の 9,100 万人から 1 億 2,400 万人へと増加した．
• 2009 年一年間で利用された Skype 同士の通話時間は合計 1,130 億分だった．
• 2010 年上半期の 6 ヶ月間で利用された Skype 同士の通話の約 40 % はビデオ通話だった．
• ピーク時には， 2,300 万人のユーザが同時に Skype にログインしている (2010 年 3 月現在)
• 社内調査によると， 2010 年 Q1 には， Skype ユーザの約 37 % が Skype をビジネスまたはビジネス関連の目的でしようしていた．
• Skype は 29 言語に対応しており，世界中のほぼ全ての国で利用されている．
• 2010 年 6 月 30 日現在， Skype 社の従業員数は 788 人．
